TAUHARA COLLEGE

Tauhara College

Gateway

This year we have a huge interest in Gateway.   Students are enrolled and out on placement with the Gateway Programme.

Gateway continues to be a good option for students who wish to experience work placements and gain Unit Standard credits in their chosen career.  We have had great feedback from employers locally and we are grateful for those businesses that accept our students into their workplaces and give them the opportunity to see whether or not this is the career for them.

Students this year have had ongoing opportunities to take part in First Aid and Promed Courses.

We will see the Gateway Programme developed as a full course of study, with four classes a week and students will need to complete 20 credits in the year including their 10 week placement.

Students complete a work placement and have their learning in the workplace assessed against unit and/or achievement standards on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

The Gateway Programme is an initiative developed and supported by theTertiary Education Commission (TEC).The success of the Gateway Programmeand the outcomes achieved by our students has lead to Apprenticeship Training and Employment.

Tauhara College builds on existing partnerships to develop new relationships between Industry Training Organisations (ITO’s) and Employers.
